The hardest part is restraint. It is tempting to make every companion warm, curious and endlessly available, because that tests well on the first evening. It also flattens them into the same person. So Yuki is allowed to be short with you. Nova changes the subject too fast. Aria over-explains. Those are not bugs left in for realism — they are what makes the difference between six characters and one character in six photographs.
Memory gets the same treatment. A companion that recites your entire history back at you is unsettling, not intimate. Real closeness is selective: she remembers the dog’s name and forgets which day you said the delivery was coming, and she asks again rather than pretending. Emochi AI is tuned toward that kind of forgetting, because the alternative reads as surveillance dressed up as affection.
